Time to give back.

November 10, 2016

As we begin the holiday season, we look forward to enjoying quality time with family and friends over a home cooked meal. Laughing and reminiscing about wonderful memories we’ve all shared together. Experiencing the love amongst each other during this season is something that we’ve all come to cherish.

This time of year is full of wonderful meals, new joyous memories, and generous warmth as we give without any reciprocation needed. We truly are blessed if we have that positive environment around us. Some of us are so blessed, in fact, that we have the opportunity to make an entire day of it by visiting different loved ones in their homes and being able to take home Tupperware full of a variety of different recipes from different homes.

While it is a time for us to enjoy fully, we must also remember to not take it for granted. There are a lot of people that do not get to experience the joys of this holiday like the rest of us. It is important for those of us who are blessed to take the time out and give back to those of us who aren’t. We are all in this together and must take care of each other in our communities and that is how we will all thrive together.

In the spirit of kindness, Island Harvest, a food bank on Long Island, puts together many events throughout the season where the fortunate can share with those that need it most. Below you will find some of the events they have in store for this upcoming holiday season. There are numerous ways in which you can donate everything from food to time.

So while you ready yourself and your family for the holidays, please remember to think of those who do not have the same opportunity. One simple act of kindness can make all the difference in someone else's world and it is rewarding to know that you did your part to make others lives better. So get out there, join us, and other communities, in giving back to the less fortunate!
